Children's Ministry

The Presbyterian Church at Pluckemin has an active and vibrant ministry to children! We are interested in helping them grow in faith, explore their world in positive and faith-filling ways, and learn what it means to be part of God's family! We want your first worship experience to be a great one for both you and your child.  We want to help parents as well! Feel free to call ahead to tell us that you're coming and we'll have someone ready to welcome you and show you and your child around. We take the protection of children seriously! All of our staff and volunteers who work with children have been trained and thoroughly screened through reference checks as well as federal and state fingerprinting background checks. We put children's safety first!

Infant - 3 yrs old
We offer a professionally staffed nursery every Sunday morning from 9am - 11:15am so parents can attend both Adult Education and Worship. We have both an infant and toddler room and we would love to care for your infant - 3 year old. You never have to feel far away because we use a beeper system to reach you if there is any need at all.

We believe that church should be a safe and fun place for your children to learn about God's love. Classes are provided for students beginning at age 3 and continue up through high school. Enrolling your children in Pluckemin Church's Sunday School Program gives them an opportunity to experience our dedicated and creative Sunday School teachers who can't wait to share God's love with your children. Sunday school takes place Sunday mornings from September through  June at 9am.

4 yr olds - 2nd Graders
We believe that children learn and worship differently than adults and it is our responsibility to address their needs as well as the parent's needs, so while you are worshiping with us at 10:00am all children from 4 years old - 2nd grade are welcome to join us after the Children's Message for a fun-filled worship experience geared specifically for their age level. This worship service includes a story time, music and crafts.

3rd - 5th Graders
As our children grow it is important our programs do as well. Our Young Disciples program is a worship program for students 3rd - 5th grades. We meet on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month after the Children's Message. Like Children's Worship this is a worship experience geared specifically for the needs and interests of this age group.

3 yrs old - 6th Graders
We offer a one-week program for children three years of age up to 6th grade that is filled with fun, faith-building experiences for your children! Each year there is a different theme where our kids can get fired up about God. The week promises to be loads of fun with daily give-aways, crafts, songs and much more! VBS is held in July from 9:00am to 11:30am. Firm dates are posted as VBS begins registration.

4th - 6th Graders
Middle Ground is a children's fellowship program that meets on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month in the evening from 5:30pm - 7:30pm. We're all about building relationships, being ourselves and having fun in a loving, Christian environment at Middle Ground! We've been known to go ice skating, bake apples pies, play really fun games, work on service projects, be challenged in "Bible Jeopardy" and more.  We hope that you will come join us!

Our Children's Ministry Commission is comprised of two Elders, our Director of Children/Family Ministry and a variety of volunteers who meet once a month to make program and content recommendations to the session and implement them as approved. This is an exciting team who are dedicated to pursuing excellence in ministering to children! Volunteers are always welcome to help us serve our children in a variety of ways!

Children and Worship

Children of all ages are welcome to worship with their parent(s) in the Sanctuary. The ushers will provide you with activity bags that include crayons and coloring pages. The church library serves as a "crying room" for fussy babies or nursing moms; there you can listen to the worship service and have easy access to the changing table in the Women's rest room.

Children through 3-years old are also welcome in our professionally staffed Nursery. Beepers are provided to parents to notify them in the event of an emergency.

We also offer two worship experiences for older children: Children's Worship and Young Disciples.

Meets every Sunday. This brief child-friendly worship service provides 4-year olds through 2nd graders the opportunity to worship God at their level. Kids sing, pray, make a project, and hear a Bible Story that they can relate to. On communion Sundays Children's Worship begins at 10am; on other Sundays it begins immediately following the Children's Message during the Sanctuary service.

Meets on the second and fourth Sundays of the month. This is a worship experience designed just for 3rd through 5th graders. It begins immediately following the Children's Message during the Sanctuary service.
